Tennis Holidays
For those who like to spend their holidays on the tennis court, La Manga resort is a little slice of heaven. With a huge number of world class courts, an elite team of highly qualified coaches, some of the best facilities in Europe and, of course, magnificent weather conditions, there is no better place to book your tennis holiday this year.
La Manga has played host to some of the biggest events and tournaments in the professional game, including the Davis Cup and the Fed Cup, while some of the world’s most garlanded players have also trained on its courts. In fact, the British Lawn Tennis Association officially uses La Manga as its winter training headquarters, thanks to the perfect year-round weather conditions, superb facilities, first rate coaching technology and innovative fitness centre.
National Junior Coach Manager LTA, Martin Weston, talks about La Manga Club and the training camp which has brought 12 of the best British junior players out to La Manga Club for a week with individual coaching.
Sharpening skills
A trip to the La Manga Tennis Academy allows guests to soak up the sun and improve their game. They cater to players of all levels and ages here. Whether they have never before picked up a racquet, play regularly or are hoping to turn professional, La Manga has everything needed.
Key to the academy’s success is that it offers numerous packages, each one tailored to improving the individual player. The dynamic coaching staff are not just knowledgeable and skilled tennis players, but also experienced coaches with a passion for imparting focussed, perceptive training to their charges. This makes it a dream training ground for the holiday maker who really wants to hone in on the crucial aspects of their form.
A wide choice of courses
Courses run every week of the year, from Monday to Friday and all of its coaching staff are multilingual. Each course is aimed at a different level of player, with different goals and ambitions for their tennis.
The coaches generally split up groups based on ability, to guarantee everybody gets to learn at their own speed. None of the groups ever number more than six students per coach, ensuring that the pro trainers can give plenty of dedicated focus to each player.
There are two main courses on offer to all students. One is a 15 hour academy, which offers three hours of coaching per day over a five day week. This consists of two hours of on-court training and one hour of theory, tactics and computer assisted analysis in the academy room. The second is a 10 hour academy, which offers two hours per day on-court.
Kids Club
While mum and dad sharpen their skills, the kids will also be well taken care of at the La Manga Junior Tennis Academy. Here, coaches concentrate on equipping young players with everything they need to build a powerful, effective tennis game in a fun, low-pressure environment.
La Manga truly is a haven for the tennis lover of any age or skill level. No wonder it proves so consistently popular with tourists who want to combine the relaxation of a sun holiday with the active fun of a sporty break.
